MICHAEL STEPHEN JACKSON aka STEVE (Harry the Horse) is a St Louis native, who grew up and taught the majority of his career in Cahokia. Nov. 21, 1960, was Steve’s first guitar lesson at Sunny Shields Music Studio in East St. Louis, and he’s been involved with music ever since. Steve now lives in Freeburg with his wife Mary. They have two grown children - Mathias, married to Webster University Conservatory alum, Emma Rogers, who live in Suwanee, Ga., and Martina, who is in grad school at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Steve graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, with a bachelors of music education degree in 1975. He retired from a 34-year career in music education in 2009, having taught in Cahokia, Freeburg, and in the Whiteside School District. Steve has been very involved in volunteerism with Kiwanis, Rotary, and Catholic Holy Family Society. He was the 1998 Illinois Fraternalist of the Year for the Illinois Fraternal Congress, after having been 1997 Fraternalist of the Year for Catholic Fraternal Life, now Catholic Holy Family Society. Steve is President of the Freeburg Rotary Club and serves on the District 6510 Rotary Youth Exchange Committee. Guys & Doll’s marks Steve’s first appearance in musical theater, although he sang for 18 years with the Masterworks Chorale of Belleville, from 1982 - 2000 he was a second tenor.
