From the Director:
"It’s hard to believe that we’re finally getting started!! Auditions were held. The cast is in place. Our first rehearsal is looming over the horizon. And soon – it will be time to perform! Words can not express how very excited I am for everyone to see this show. It is truly going to be something special! We had such a fantastic turn-out for our auditions! Because of the level of talent that came forth, we had to create a chorus of EIGHT new characters!
With its bigger than life theme throughout, these iconic characters will show us a typical day in the life of Charlie Brown. From going to school, to flying a kite, rabbit chasing, book reports, new philosophies, a birthday celebration, suppertime among others.
Our set design was inspired by seven year old Madeline Reuter of Waterloo. Her crayon colored pictures will be projected onto the back of our set, and everything will be painted to resemble her drawings. She is just tickled pink. I have told her since she was four years old that she needed to get involved in theatre, and she gets to be such an important part of this show…something she is very proud of.
Music director Marcia Braswell is excited because, in the years of playing and directing for shows, this will mark the first time she has worked on YAGMCB. Having worked with her several times in past shows, I knew she was my first and only option as musical director. I am thrilled to get the chance to work with her in this way. Assistant director Stacey Tunnicliff has also gotten bitten by the “Charlie Brown bug.” She was such a help in casting the show.
Choreographer Donna Goetz has created a wonderful set of dances. And some that are just perfectly hilarious!
So, clear your calendars March 1-4. We are introducing a Saturday matinee, giving us a total of five performances. We hope to see you there! Believe me when I say this, you’re not going to want to miss this show!”
